The problem with these maps is that there are so many POIs on them. Some of which have been carried over through various vector programs used to draw these maps over the years. How many of us keep a running tab on which POI is still open or is still in the same location after so many years? What they need is a dedicated staff to keep up with the changing information. Since that's not likely to happen, they just update the bus and subway routes as necessary. No, it isn't a good excuse, but there's a reason why they added that disclaimer to the maps page, but hopefully, the DOT is a little better at keeping up with the POIs than the MTA is with this.
