Back then, there was no preservation movement in that area or at Pratt. It was looked upon as being non-progressive and all those other dismissives.

Removal of the ancient and dirty el(s) and streetcars were the starting steps towards us getting our flying nuclear powered cars to our fabulous shiny new condos in the sky. And I'm only being half sarcastic.
