Electrification is a good plan. It is good for the development of the Island. But it is far more than the cost of "electrification". They would also need to buy new train sets. Obviously many more train sets if they want more service than what the diesels are providing. The Lines would also have to be double tracked if capacity is to be increased.

How many diesel train sets are running. Double and or Triple that number for electric sets. Off peek sets would not end at Babylon, but would run all the way to NYP/GCT. Would they also run local between Babylon and Jamaica? Would the eastern passengers be happy with that, going from an express train to Jamaica to a Local?

This would be tantamount to building a new railroad out there.
