Good wind density and solar irradiance maps are available on the nrel website for anyone who wants to do basic modeling. Of course plenty of areas are off limits for many different reasons (like the Adirondack Park Preserve)regardless of wind or sun availability. As grid scale storage technology improves (ie vanadium-redox batteries)in economic viability, alternative energy sources become much more practical. |
