And if you remained where she was, she would have cleared the tracks by 6 feet. She probably panicked, forgot to put the car in reverse and just gave it gas. For the gate to hit her car, she definitely went through the flashing lights (probably at a slow speed, or she could not have stopped with the gates still on her car). What is interesting, is that the gates went down 39 seconds before the train arrived, with the national minimum at 20-25 seconds. |
