For a trip even further back, the Evergreen Branch went all the way to the East River through East Williamsburg and Greenpoint into the mid 1880's. The right of way is fairly visible through odd building lines and wide backyards all the way through into the Queens line.Maybe a virtual ride is warranted? Start with the 1880's era maps via Arrt Huenke's LIRR website, then follow the Row via the 1924 aerial photos and the ones today. One may be in luck, as they tore down Marino Tile and Marble's building on Graham Ave. recently which was built over the right of way and you can see clear up to Humboldt St. |
