Could one wheel have been derailed going over the switches beyond Roosevelt Ave & not causing further damage until it got beyond 65th St.?? Some passengers report serious bumping before the train stopped. Indicating possibly a wheel bouncing off the crossties. Strictly speculation here.Can a subway train travel that far, say from Roosevelt Ave to 62nd st with one wheel on the ground? If memory serves, train are going at a very good clip beyond 65th St on the express tracks entering the dip turning under Northern Blvd. All in all, it could have been a lot worse. |
