For summer service on the Greenport line, I would suggest leasing one, or a few ALP45's and NJT type multi level cars for the low level stations east of Ronkonkoma.If you build it they will come, but if you lease it, maybe they'll come too! The NJT Multilevels have both hi and low doors, a single power unit,and 6 passenger cars could be used, because there would not be a "GAP" issue. Do I hear "GreenPort cannonball" out of Penn station NY. Stops to be determined. Jamaica, Hicksville , Ronkonkoma and points east. |
