The 40's were a replacement order for the early IND R1 cars and the Standards. It was no surprise that they went to Jamaica given the fact that the Prewar cars were falling apart there.Funny thing about that...when they were sent to the East for JJ,M and LL service,DO got them in shape quick where as there were little problems. They didn't belong there, but they were Eastern Division cars from that moment onward. the 40s were fast as hell, rough on riders, loud as crap and sweet as a new girlfriend...the SAS,meanwhile,a victim of the times,Should have been built during the 50's but not at the cost of watching the rest of the system fall apart...which it did anyway. |
