No thousand pound gorilla in the bunch in 1967.I worked for I.Buss Uniform Company at 12(?) west 17th street. Don't remember the floor, but remember the passenger elevator was slower than the freight elevator. A pain when carrying heavy packages. Once or twice the freight elevator operator, when standing in front of the building with nothing to do would give me a ride in the freight elevator to relieve me of my burden. According to an internet search the company is now run by the fourth generation and is located at 121 E. 24th Street. |
