There was no "change" to the elevated line. The model board clearly shows both the line to 76 St and the ramp to the Grant Av and the Fulton St el. As originally planned, the subway was to continue down Pitkin Av and connect to the LIRR ROW via a ramp from beneath the LIRR in the vicinity of Aqueduct while the branch was to utilize the Fulton St el structure to Lefferts as it does now. As I have mentioned in many posts on this topic, a set of contract drawings I have seen for the el portion indicated that S/O Hudson St, "existing BMT signaling to be used beyond this point." That would indicate that there was to have been n Liberty Jct as we now know it. A B of T report I have from 1950, however, shows a connection between the Fulton St el S/O Rock Blvd to the LIRR ROW which seems to indicate that between the time Euclid opened in 1948 and the time of the report in 1951, the city had abandoned plans to continue the subway farther down Pitkin and opted for the connection to the LIRR from the el instead of a new subway. Interestingly, that connection was supposed to coexist with the building of the connection between the IND Qns Blvd Line N/O 63 Dr although I don't know what sort of junction there would have been between the ramp from the Fulton St el and the tracks coming form Rego Pk. In any event, it was originally planned to have both the connection to the Fulton St el and the extension of the subway down Pitkin coexist and not have one replace the other.
