That's why I can't figure it out either. I can understand if they're pushing guys to run trains on some weedy track, but on Metro-North? Maybe one or both parties doesn't know or remember what the rule is, so management just mentions it as a catchall excuse. And of course all this is probably done verbally, so there's no evidence it's CSX' fault, and if the guys are rookies, they probably need the job too much to question it.I'm wondering, if the crew knows they don't know enough about the track, would they try to dig up any information they can about the route on the Web, and store it on their smartphone(s) or something? It's of course sad if they have to resort to that, but I think they've reached that point already. :-( |
