I would NOT call that situation "too many pedestrians."There is a need to move hundreds of people through that intersection in every 90-second cycle. Right now it's being done very efficiently. The hundreds of pedestrians get through with minimal delay, and the dozens of riders in cars have a slower trip. Any revamping (like shorter Walk signals or a pedestrian overpass) would reduce overall efficiency by making the trip for the hundreds pedestrians take longer just to speed the dozens in cars. |
