In the case of the pre-MTA BMT, both Manhattan Bridge and the Montague St tunnel had 3 routes each, in rush hours. And, unlike today, all 3 bridge express routes used the same 2 tracks on the north side of the bridge. Only part time Nassau Loop service existed on the south side tracks.
