The contract is only a number and a number of identical series of cars have multiple contract numbers. With very minor exceptions, the R-1s through 9s were identical yet look at the number of different contracts that comprised that series. R-12/14s, 26/28s and 29/33s are also examples of virtually identical car types that received different numbers only by virtue of the fact that the B of T and NYCTA awarded them separately. |
