edf40wrjww2msgDetail:detailStr fiogf49gjkf0d Friday was a beautiful day so my buddy and I decided to do some railfanning. Our game plan was to shoot pictures at Tower 55 (near downtown Ft. Worth) and UP's Davidson Yard, but those plans quickly went by the wayside.
We started at Tower 55. Just as we were pulling up we heard on the scanner that a MOW train would be passing by. It did but shot on by before we could get out of our car. More on this train later.
We set up just alongside a siding south of Tower 55:

A few minutes later a UP mixed freight came by, with ES44AC 7488 on the point:

She was trailed by C44AC 6462, still under warranty:

Then C44-9W 9629:

Followed by AC4400CWCTE 6029 and SD70ACe 8443:

We saw some interesting freight cars including this Ferromex nee NdeM hopper:

A CNW box car:

Former RF&P now CSX covered hopper:

Former MoPac:

An interesting NS car, formally a covered gondola but typically referred to as a coil steel car:

And former D&RGW:

No pushers on the end which was surprising. The freight was quickly followed by a shorter freight hauling some car carriers, led by UP 4582, an SD70m:

We heard on the scanner that the MOW train was heading up the Duncan sub and would take the siding just north of Chico. UP's Duncan sub (formerly Rock Island) runs from Tower 55 in Ft. Worth north to Chickasha in Oklahoma, a distance of 176.6 miles. We decided to chase the train up to Chico. But first, we grabbed a shot of the TRE leaving from Ft. Worth Intermodal Station to Dallas Union Station:

TRE 123 is pushing on the rear and is a refurbished F59PH that is ex-GO Transit.
More pictures to come in Parts 2 and 3 tomorrow!
