Yep ... in those, there's enough steel to peel away a shifting train. :(Close friend of mine retired a couple of years ago from Amtrak, worked the Lake Shore. As a freight was passing his train going the other way, a load of pipe shifted and came right through his cab. Fortunately the pipe missed him by a few feet, but it was a nasty derailment. Broke his back. He was out for a couple of years and when he came back, he was never the same. :( |
