I don't think they can discriminate against ads like that one. If they tried to make a formal policy that they would not accept ads for services that are in competition with their own, it could cause a big stink, since government is not supposed to compete directly with private enterprise. (Of course, Amtrak's own ads certainly do compete with the airlines, but banning an ad from a private company because it competes with a government-backed service would be a step too far in the eyes of many, even if the ban only applies on property controlled by that government-backed service.)And the MTA isn't a city agency. |
