Those who travel enough to warrant an unlimited MetroCard save money with the Unlimited. And those who put a certain amount of dollar value on their card at a time get a bonus value. So, those who live in the city get a savings too, and pass all of the price of the MetroCard, plus an extra tax, onto the tourists. I think that's fair. When I go on vacation, I often pay more than the locals do in that I have to buy the fare media. Los Angeles, Miami to name a couple. I think Washington DC does this now too. I think New Yorkers should benefit as well. If you are a New Yorker and are reponsible with your MetroCard, you should be happy about this fee. |
