If there is anything that most Staten Islanders are already accustomed to is South Ferry being closed for a variety of reasons even back in the loop days. From my observations it's a 7-8 minute walk and using any other alternative besides taking the 2/3 to Wall Street would be slower than walking and using Rector.I also remember seeing a picture showing Whitehall terminal flooded out meaning that if SF loop were open and the entrance was still there by the water, South Ferry loop if not boarded up properly would have been flooded and damaged pretty badly as well but not nearly as costly as the new SF. |
