Even though I deplore the replacement of the el in Jamaica, if I had to have this done I would have kept the el fully open longer, and put priority on getting the upper (IND) level of Archer Ave ready faster and before the lower. In this way, the upper level could have been opened concurrent with the closing of the el, this minimizing the effect on Jamaica. Only then would the BMT connection be built. No 11 year gap with no service east of Queens Blvd. There was no need to wait until it was fully complete before starting service. |
