That switch from gold to green always baffled me as a kid. I used it as the marker between Jamaica and Richmond Hill (even though the real border was a few blocks east). When they began connecting the new subway in 1985 I finally figured out that they just didn't bother painting the outer portion gold in the 70's due to it's future demolition. |
