The Acela Express made its inaugural revenue trip on December 11, 2000: a round trip from Washington to Boston. The original schedule had one round trip a day, northbound from Washington at 5 AM and southbound from Boston at about 5 PM.(This post comes from a Northeast Regional train, the Acela is a bit more expensive today than it was 12 years ago, I saw tickets for trains this morning from WAS to NYP being sold for over 200 dollars.) |
