edf40wrjww2msgDetail:detailStr fiogf49gjkf0d Last week when I was chasing UP 844, we ended the chase in North Meridian, TX, on one of the BNSF subs. Since one of the guys I shot photos with is a dispatcher with the BNSF, he knew Amtrak 21 was due by soon and a new combine unit train would follow. BNSF has just started running a unit train of combines from Moline, IL down to Mobile, AL to be loaded on a container ship for export. We caught the second train run since service began.
Amtrak 21, the Texas Eagle, travels from Chicago to San Antonio. The normally assigned consist includes:
1 P42,
1 dorm-sleeper,
1 sleeper,
1 diner,
1 Sightseer Lounge,
1 coach-baggage, and
2 coaches.
We watched the horses across the way while waiting for the combine train:
About 15 minutes later the combine train followed led by BNSF 4460 and 5404, both a Dash 9-44CW's. Here she comes:
A solid line of green:
And there she goes:
From here we headed on home after a long, fun-filled day of train chasing!
