I think part of it was that in 1957/8, there was no real regular long distance jet travel yet, but by 61, when the Angels were created, the 707 and DC-9 were both well established for coast to coast flights.Both the 707 and DC-9 came out in 58, and it took a while for the airlines to get them on domestic flights. |
