Yeah.Widening the tunnel at track level by a few inches would certainly have been possible, but perhaps quite labor-intensive. And the IND certainly provided a faster route to the west side. When I lived in the area as a kid, we always took the IRT to the east side, and the "Independent" to the west side. |
