Remember they were built for a system with high platforms at all stations. The 1926 IC electrification and raised embankment/grade separation project was a major upgrade. FWIW, I was back there a week ago, joyriding the South Chicago Branch (my old neighborhood) Even w/ slower trains it is still a great system though I wish they ran more often in base day. |
