Actually, as far as yard assignments, they were assigned to ENY Yd which had the responsibility for inspection and maintenance. If a train on any of the Eastern Division lines went bad in its own yd, it would be sent to ENY Yd for a replacement. Actually, the only line in the Eastern that did not have its own layup yard was the Jamaica Line so J Line layups and put ins are made from/to ENY Yd and prior the 1956, the Fulton St el lacked its own yard and had to use ENY Yd for its layups also although Fulton had a middle track for layups which the Jamaica Line lacks.
