There have been a handful of incidents at Far Rockaway where the NewTran Brake Valve allowed the T/O to place the train into the Handle Off position without stopping in "Emergency".(similar to "quick charging") The train is essentially left in charge but with the controller in handle off so the air is not being replenished. As the Straight Air bleeds off, the brakes release and the train rolls into the block - Only at Far Rockaway. Go figure. |
