I think it's absolutely certain the R32/42 will be entirely retired by the R179. They want to be rid of these beasts, and in 2017 the R32's will all be over half a century old, with the R42's close to that milestone.In the meantime, it might make more sense to invest in restoring as many of the structurally sound R44's left (despite them being picked clean of spare parts) for use on the SIR so that at least it has the best R44's possible. The R211 is a long way away, perhaps a decade. Patching and praying won't work. |
