R32's were in service on the QB during the weekend of the Christie Street cut (Thanksgiving Weekend 1968). On Sunday Midnight of the cut going into service all R32's running with QB designations were re-flagged at Stillwell terminal to display "D 6th Avenue Express."The first F headed to Stillwell Coney Island was an R38, as the last F from 34th/6th Avenue was charged up and about to depart for 179th Street Jamaica. Confusion reigned supreme the night of the 1968 cut over, especially at DeKalb when R1's rolled in with D line designations, and as NYCTA crews were installing new (First time use) overhead platform subway line designation boards. |
