And the 49 used to go to Bound Brook, even for a long while after having been converted to bus. When I still lived in Elizabeth NJ, the old route 49 trolley tracks would sometimes be exposed whenever road work was done on West Jersey Street and/or Jersey Avenue; I sometimes wonder if it really would have been all that expensive to keep the road/trolley infrastructure as it was instead of making a mad dash to convert to buses . . . |
