I believe that NYCT would use creative means to cut expenses on a surface route that serves the same route of a subway line.Travel from Avenue U to Rutland Road takes an average of 30 minutes, depending on traffic, traffic lights (Utica is 2 way), and unloading/loading. A R/T line could make the same journey in at least half the time. Saving time would deload the surface route lines, except for possible local bus hops on the avenue. |
