I think that the 5 Av El was, unlike Myrtle made largely redundant by the opening of the 4 Av subway which not substantially duplicated the el but actually provided service to areas the el did not serve past 65 St at the south end and midtown Manhattan at the north as well as serving the downtown Bkln and City Hall ares. |
