There are some who would say that an el causes a blight on the neighborhood that it travels over but having seen photos of the old Fulton St el passing through the neighborhoods from downtown Bkln all the way out, I think that an el often ADDS character to a neighborhood rather than detracting from it. 86 St in Bensonhurst under the West End el structure is a good example as are certain parts of neighborhoods in the Bx and Queens which thrive probably in part due to the very presence of the el above the streets. |
