The line was sold to the City of New York in the 50's already. The DCAS (Department of Citywide Administrative Services)owns it, with a mailing address of 1 Centre St in Manhattan.As far as I know, the line was never formally "abandoned", that's why all the infastructure, rails, tracks, signals, etc all remained, and were never removed. The line was banked into "disuse", but not abandoned. Of course, mother nature had other ideas. |
