Posted by GP38/R42 Chris on Fri Nov 11 09:21:36 2011, in response to Re: Make unused Rockaway LIRR into greenspace: Activist, posted by mike cruz on Fri Nov 11 09:08:55 2011. it's been known that the apartments extended the parking lot over the ROW. the school bus company filled the ramp from the old LIRR connection, I think that might be the only segment that was sold.Yes, they USE those segments, they are NOT sold, as I said, they are owned by the DCAS, as well as the entire ROW, (Except for the Forest Park segment, also publicly owned, although stated as 'Dept of Transportation" as stated, and ownership is completely intact for the entire ROW. As for the apartment complex and school bus company, I would assume they have a LEASE agreement to use those parts. They do NOT own them, and it's safe to say they didn't just barge over their property and begin using it without the concent of the city, which owns it. |
