I suggested something similar possibly as part of a total renumbering scheme of all transit lines (bus and rail) in the DC metro area:

1: Shady Grove-Glenmont
2: Grosvenor-Silver Spring
3: Dulles-Stadium-Armory
4: Vienna-New Carrollton
5: WFC-Largo
6: Franconia-Springfield-Largo
7: Franconia-Springfield-Greenbelt
8: Huntington-Mount Vernon Square/Fort Totten
9: Branch Avenue-Greenbelt
