Say what you want about my politics, but good urban planning requires balances between automobiles, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit. It is simply unrealistic to undo America's car dependency and turn it into Europe overnight for a whole host of reasons. I do think government should be advocating smart growth and designing walkable and bikeable cities and urban centers, but cars fit into that picture as well.a student of the nuts and bolts of how the railroad was built and how it operates We need more of those. You have probably forgotten more about how those nuts and bolts and operational details than these other people have ever known. We need other people with your knowledge to enter the discussion. |
