New bosses justifying their jobs.We have to change something to show we're doing something. Change for the sake of change. But maybe the thought process became this: with the closing of towers at most interlockings where the tower operator could physically see the train (at least in one direction) got changed over to master towers where all they see in an upstairs office is a bunch of lights with route selection buttons and/or TV screens showing the lighted end sign became the reason to dump marker lights. |
