The track engineering dept uses it for visual inspections (unlike it's brother 10002 The Corridor Clipper, 10001 does not have equipment for inspecting the tracks/catenary, but it does have a mounted camera and headlights and a balcony for doing visual inspections). The car has a kitchen and a lounge area (club business class seating, but a more open area) and a couple of sleepers.Amtrak basically takes it out for VIP events (this was the car Obama & Biden rode for inauguration day). Already this year, it's been seen on the Silver Star, Cardinal, Lake Shore Limited, Wolverine and Capitol Limited. |
