If you only saw the huge collection of old photographs, primarily 8x10 size, dating from before the opening of the first subway to the mid-1940s, including hundreds on the Staten Island Rapid Transit 1930s rehabilitation project (nothing on 76th Street, sorry) that were thrown out by the NYCTA many years ago, you'd cry. Fortunately, someone notified me and we went there with a van quickly and took them in off of the street before the Sanitation Department got to them. They are now well-preserved. Otherwise...... |
