That may be part of it but if you have ever seen any photos of the IRT Flushing Line when it first opened the area around Queens Blvd was nothing but empty lots. Most transit lines were built first and the populations then followed. When the BMT 4 Ave LIne first opened, the area now occupied by 5 and 6 story apartment buildings was nothing but wide open spaces. |
