I have had simply wonderful experiences from the Olympus S-series of cameras, and their new line looks even better. At least in my model Olympus focused on energy efficiency and I have had my 4 batteries last across Pennsylvania with the camera on w/ LCD for about 8 hours, taking over 600 photos in the process. My current model is a 7MP with 10x zoom and the new ones have 14MP and 15-30x zoom as well as 720p video. The cameras are also very rugged with my 2002 model once suffering from a dislocated lens assembly which I managed to pop back into place with no ill effects. The advantages are a modest price, high reliability and good quality while being able to fit in a large pocket or small bag. Olympus also does not design their user interface for morons so the camera won't attempt to out-think you if you don't want it to (although I did have a learning curve). |
