How will this new engine handle very old catenary? Testing? Multiple voltage changes? Dude, the Siemens Eurosprinters are capable of 15kV @ 16.7 hz, 25kV @ 50 hz, 1.5kV DC, and 3kV DC. Playing around with Amtrak's voltages and frequencies isn't that much trouble, especially with modern electric components. |
