As to the "PIA" from what I've been told by the guys who do the work, they're hard to get in and out of the unit and in the distant past, sometimes they didn't get done. The guys and gals over at Rensselaer DO the hard work the right way but word is some other shops aren't quite as diligent. Point being though that the air filters do get oil on them and that makes them a critical maintenance item as far as the Gennies go.After reading what seabeach offered, it's quite plausible that his scenario might be what happened given the apparent location of the fire. Either way though, whenever they burn inside the monocoaue, that's major damage no matter what the cause. |
