Not just the NYPD but the individual officers as well. Maybe when the individual officers see their pay garnisheed from their paychecks in the amount allowed by statute they won't be so quick to make up their own laws. Also, keep in mind that since the trials of the Nazi war criminals, "following orders" when the individual either could or should know what is legally and morally right is not a viable defense for inappropriate actions. |
