No, they gave the oil (that was supposed to pay for the war) to CHINA. They got all the drilling and export rights. Thanks, Cheney ...

They're voting to raise oil prices too. Iraq was no bargain and you won't hear the righties boasting about it.

Costly? WWII cost 4½ times as much. Old pwnt argument rehash fail.

The WW2 Era had 94% tax rates, the Draft and the Socialization of the American economy.

Ready to go Trotsky?

America was strongest when the rich paid 90'ish% and corporations paid 50'ish. All those tax cuts are the reason why we're in the toilet.

Just peg the corporate tax paid by a company to some formula which takes the difference between their highest and lowest wage earners, or the standard deviation of all their employees into account. The company can then choose to can pay their janitors nothing and keep all the money for executive bonuses, but they're going to pay through the nose in corporate taxes. With any luck the shareholders will help them decide (with baseball bats, if necessary) that they're better off foregoing those bonuses and packages back into the company as raises for those in the middle and bottom of the company, flattening the payroll disparity, and saving the company money on their corporate taxes.

Damned shame that the banks destroyed ESOP ... that would have made the difference right there ... it's amazing what employees can do when they own the place.

It is interesting to see what's going on in China, like people owning their own apartments. I suspect in the long term China isn't going to be communist any more, like Vietnam is today. Communism just doesn't work long term.

Well ... given that no place has actually BEEN "communist" (at least as far as Marx or Engels went) they're certainly running rings around US. :(

I mean ... if Obama really were the communist the right claims he is, we should be popping iPads out of every garage. Heh.
