Only you, Luch, would use the word "cripple" in the 21st century. Anyway, the blog you linked makes no mention whatsoever of handicapped-permit abuse. It only says "parking placard" abuse, which, IINM, refers to the placards used by NYPD cops. |

Wanna canvass the area with me and see for yourself?I call them cripple stickers because of the wheelchair logo. Oddly I have never seen anyone with a wheelchair getting in or out of one of those automobiles. Thanks for attacking for no reason. |

There ARE disabilities requiring parking permits besides wheelchair confinement, y'know. Not all disabilities are visible.I worked 51E2 long enough in the KG/Forest Hills area to see the placards on cars all over the place, but I still don't think the handicapped permits are being abused at all. The NYPD placards, now that's something else. UCA ASCA/QUEE, QN |

I think that the large majority of the handicapped placards in LA are fraudulent. People get them in their parents or grandparents name when they don't even drive anymore. There have been numerous exposes in various newspapers and news stations detailing how widespread the fraud is. They might as well get rid of them IMO. |

I already acknowledged that parking-placard abuse is rampant in the Kew/Forest area. I just don't think this abuse extends to handicapped permits, and, in fact, the location of a car with such a permit is no indication that its driver is abusing the privilege. |

People in places like Queens and LA live for such scams to deal with fucked up parking situation. And DOT does everything to reduce the number of free parking spaces. It's all made worse by the garbage losers who buy trucks and minivans in NYC. |

Good to hear there is still professional courtesy 10 years after I retired. I can't believe these idiots are complaining. Would they rather these cops compete with them for parking spots? Don't they realize it makes more spots for them. If I was still on the job and worked in the area and knew who the crybabies were, I'd look for any possible technical violation to give them summonses. |

But what happens when the daughter takes the mother (who has the tag) who doesn't drive and takes her somewhere? If the mother is in the vehicle, I see no problem with them using her tag, if in the daughter's car. It's if the daughter uses it without the mother that I have the problem with. |

I know those two or three blocks of 6 family houses around 65th. But how is he going to be able to park on the street there any different than anyone else? There's no "handicapped" parking on the street there. That said, I have found it easier to park in Glendale myself, it's less dense than let's say Ridgewood, and Ridgewood is less congested than other parts of the Queens like let's say Rego Park or Astoria. |

She takes mom in mom's car, OR explains to the nice officer why mom isn't in her own car. If mom is there, the cop won't write you up. If the tagholder is a passenger in another car, it's Ok too, but they will need to be present to dispute the ticket in traffic court. ?????? And what does that have to do with anything? What ticket, and if you think dishonest mother who gave her daughter the tag wouldn't be dishonest and say she was present when the ticket was given? |
