It would because they are putting this coincidental piece of metal in a position of prominence over any symbols of other religions. Because you people believe that your symbols are the best in the world and everyone should find comfort in them. That violates free exercise more than anything. Why should the loved ones of non-Christians who died at the WTC have to endure another example of Christians believing that everything is better for everyone and not just them through a 2000 year-old lynched Jew? |

There is nothing uplifting and noble about it. It is a clear and obvious religious symbol. The only reason why you people find it uplifting and notable is that of all the right angles in the World Trade Center, that one happened to be proportioned in a way resembling the symbol of your religion. It is an obvious endorsement of one religion over another. This piece of shit should have been melted down with all the other beams. |

You know how I feel about "religion", but that said, I see nothing wrong with having the crossbar of steel at the site. It comforted a lot of people in the days after the disaster, and stood there while it was all going on. It's as much a part of the history of that time as any of the fire trucks or whatever other relics are there. |

Crucifixes can be just as offensive to Jews as a Mosque would be to you. My OWN attitude is that religion is between the individual and their God, and those that flaunt their religion are hypocrites. So while I'm officially ambivalent myself, I can see others will be offended by it. I think that surviving staircase is more poignant than the cross, but I guess that's just me. |

Yes, I do, as that's where our government functions, in Washington, and we have diplomatic relationships with Britain, as we should. The WTC site isn't our government center, and there is no need for embassies at the WTC site, just as there's no need for a Japanese Cultural Center at Pearl Harbor. |
